2009 was our first year of welcoming guests and here are some things they said about it:

Details of Ivydene

Ivydene is a traditional Gower barn, converted to a house in 1996 refurbished in 2009, lying in the centre of the village of Middleton. The lounge faces due South, with an entrance into the private and enclosed garden, and a fantastic view over the cliffs of Mewslade and The Bristol Channel; at night, the lights of Ilfracombe and the North Devon Coast twinkle in the distance. It is a comfortable cottage, with exposed beams in every room, and is within walking distance of Mewslade and Fall Bays. Guests are invited to take advantage of our own entrance onto the cliff path through our nearby fields. Rhossili, with its famous 3 miles of sandy beach and the iconic Worm’s Head are only 10 minutes’ walk away.

The kitchen is fully fitted with electric cooker and hob, micro-wave, fridge-freezer, kettle and toaster. There is a breakfast table and chairs, with a separate Utility Room leading from the kitchen, with washing machine, cloaks area and downstairs toilet.

There is a large Dining Room, with formal table and chairs, and this leads into the lounge. The lounge has two settees and a chair, a TV, DVD player (even a video player and some historic videos to play!) and a modest collection of books and family board games for guests’ enjoyment. There is also a multi-fuel burner for additional heating, and logs are supplied when requested.

Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, each with wardrobes and drawer storage. Bedroom One contains a double bed; Bedroom Two can accommodate 3 single beds or a Super-King size double. Bed linen and towels are provided (but NOT beach towels) and there is a Shower Room sited between the two rooms.

If dogs are requested to come with our guests, we ask that they remain on the ground floor. Safety stair gates are provided for the top and bottom of the stairs for guests with small children. We can also provide up to 2 cots and a high chair.

Outside there is a small paved patio (with table, 4 chairs and umbrella shade) leading onto a lawned area in front of the cottage.
