Welcome to Candyfloss cottage - a cottage made for
two. Candyfloss Cottage is situated on a working farm in the heart
of the Gower Peninsula.
The cottage is over 300 years old and was once used for housing
calves. In later years it doubled up as a stable for a pony called
"Candy" and a kennel for the farm sheepdog called "Floss"
- that's where the cottage get it's name from. Sadly the building
became redundant with modern technology, the bales got bigger, the
tractors got bigger and the doorways got smaller. |
|
|
The cottage is cosy and will sleep two people comfortably in
a double bedroom. A travel cot can be supplied on request.
|
 |
There is a kitchen/diner, with a fitted kitchen, electric cooker,
hob and grill, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster.
The lounge has a sofa bed settee that can be used for up to 2 children,
a TV with freeview and a DVD player. The shower room has a shower,
wc and wash basin and is suitable for wheelchairs.
|
 |
There is oil fired central heating throughout the cottage and bed
linen is provided. Guests should bring their own towels. The cottage
may be suitable for someone with limited mobility. Outside there is
parking space and a landscaped patio area with a BBQ. Well behaved
pets and responsible owners welcome. |
Horse Bed and Breakfast
If you wish to see Gower on horse back and would like to bring your
own horses, stabling is available between May and September for
an additional fee.
About the farm
The farm is a working farm with cattle and sheep (both commercial
and pedigree). We have a farm shop that aims to supply home and
locally grown fresh produce, from seasonal fruit and vegetables,
to beef, lamb and pork, as well as stocking many traditional Welsh
products from cheeses to jams.
Hopefully by the summer we can take you around the animals to our
Pedigree Herd of Hereford Cattle, and show you our prize bull, (if
he's not out at work or travelling the country visiting agricultural
shows). We also we have a flock of Pedigree Jacob sheep just waiting
to meet you. We are a working farm and will welcome you with open
arms, but sometimes visiting the animals will not be possible. If
you feel like a morning off, breakfast is served daily in the coffee
shopt that boasts a fine view of the South Gower scenery.
The Village
The village is only a 10 minute walk from the cottage. In the village
there is a general store, bakery, post office, letterbox, telephone
box, sports club, swimming pool, hairdressers, doctors and a chemist.
The local church holds services every other Sunday.
Scurlage is on the main bus routes to Swansea the other Gower villages.
The local public house caters mainly for families with children's
entertainment during school holidays, but has a varied menu. A more
traditionally public house is only 3 miles away. There is also a
petrol station within a mile.
Candyfloss Cottage is ideal for :- romantic breaks, walking, hang
gliding, canoeing, golfing, horse riding breaks or just a relaxing
trip to Gower to get away from everything. |
