| I agree with Miramoore about Gower being a tourist trap and I think your putdown about motorhomers/caravanners is out of order. In comparison Pembrokeshire is better and they have the same problems with which to cope. |

| Just stopped at The Channel View B & B overlooking Worms Head. This was such a lovely place to stay. The people that run the place are very nice people, the room is lovely and homely and the breakfast is great. Would love to stop their again. Highly recommended. |

| In
the late 1950's into early 1960's at a prev. termed 'White Elephant' building
just down the lane from the old OSBORNE Hotel had THE Largest 'Bikers' Cafe
in Wales on it's entire upper level. Called "Ron's Rendezvous" with the
latest & largest WURLITZER Juke Box attracting hordes, A weather influenced
average of several HUNDREDS of the latest motorcycle Machinery was parked
from the Osborne to the present day Little Langland Hotel. Our Websites
www.sandspeedwales.co.uk plus www.speedtracktales.co.uk & www.silverdragons.co.uk
carry guest books if anyone wishes to reach me & can onpass data whether
anecdotal or even images of the place, machines etc. it wd be a part of
the bike scene worthy of addition to one of the listed sites. Some of the
youthful riders ended up winning Welsh Championships on track plus one won
the Manx Grand Prix I actually spent 2 yrs visiting on weekends & can verify
the layout. |

Hello,
I spent a few days in the Gower at the end of August. I\'m a tourist and
I want to register my disappointment about your region. I travelled with
a small motorhome and found that ALL the parking areas in the Gower were
paying. Everywhere I went was geared up to trap tourists at all cost.
It seemed as though the whole of the Peninsula has been designed to corral
tourists into paying parking areas and tacky tourists attractions... In
Pembrokeshire, on the other hand, I felt treated like a human being: I
decided to spend my time and money there because I was given the chance
to choose when, where and how to spend both privileges. I feel you could
learn from your neighbours: how to attract, retain and benefit from tourism.
Catherine Mira-Moore.

Nobody
can acuse me of not being fair and only displaying positive comments
however, I feel that I need to reply to this.
A fair number of the car parks in Gower are owned by Swansea City
Council who charge a pay & display fee as they would in the town
centre. They have costs in terms of upkeep of the highways & footpaths
etc. to cover. The remaining car parks are owned by either the National
Trust, who obviously seek to raise money for their important work
in the peninsula or private individuals (e.g. honesty box in a farmer's
field) and with the decline in farming, you can hardly blame them
for trying to earn a living and the majority of their car parks are
cheaper than the SCC or NT car parks anyway.
In terms of 'tacky tourist attractions' - the number of tourist attractions
in Gower is limited as Gower is predominantly geared towards walking/beach
holidays. Whether they are 'tacky' is a matter of personal taste.
An interesting point, that I would like to raise is to whether or
not this lady actually paid to stay anywhere overnight e.g. in a campsite,
or if she was hoping for a 'free' holiday roaming around the peninsula,
sleeping free of charge in her motorhome in a car park? Bearing in
mind that she could have brought her food with her and wouldn't consider
trying the few attractions, nobody in Gower would have benefitted
by a single penny from her visit, whilst she could enjoy the beautiful
countryside that many are struggling to maintain as such.
One further point for consideration. If those who are born and bred
in Gower are expected to pay to use a car park, so that they can enjoy
the area too, why should visitors be exempt? |

I was looking for something to show my husband, who's never been to the

for us dog owners.

| Your site has been invaluable to me in my family and local history research. I am presently editing and publishing a family \'Victorian diary\' and wondered if it would be possible to link to this site - http://victoriandiary.blogspot.com. | I\'m organising a Gower walk on April 29 called the Gower Walkabout. It\'s following the same 22-mile route as the MacMillan walk which takes place in September (thanks to Jenny from the MacMarathon committee for all her help and advice). I hoped you might be willing to add the details to your web site. People can register to take part at www.boardfree.co.uk - all sponsorship money goes towards the BoardFree project, which is in aid of Link Community Development, the Lowe Syndrome Trust and Sailability Australia. Thanks! |

| Hello Selina. My grandfather(Deceased) was Llewellyn William Morgan Eynon(b Jan 14 1902 New Zealand) I believe his father was senior apellate. I hope my contact is not intrusive for you from me as a family member seeking others. I wouldn\'t expect any other reply past a hello. Your site is neat and informative. I am assuming that my gdfthrs name is derived of this area and hoping others(possible family members) visiting your site may wish to contact at some time to give my family some background if possible about that name and area. For all I know the Eynon family could have been murderers, robbers and banished from the area(lets hope not). Wish you well. Looks good, take care. TonyN. |

You haven’t left me your email address to reply to you. The Gower Peninsula is only a very small part of South Wales. For more information on South Wales generally I would visit the visitwales.com website.
As far as Gower is concerned, there are many beaches where you can sunbathe when the weather is suitable, swim or partake of water sports such as surfing. You can walk over hills, in valleys and through forests. There is plenty of wildlife to observe.
There are also organised activities such as pony trekking, hang gliding, abseiling and climbing.
I hope this helps and that your project goes well.
